Youth Orchestra, CYCNY 20013-14 Audition News Release

$F:\LLLLLL\YOC-994.jpg$ The Youth Orchestra, CYCNY, a Queens-based youth orchestra since 1996 is pleased to announce the 2013-14 audition for new members, age 10-18, who has been learning an orchestral instrument with a private teacher for at least 2-3 years, and are interested in our bilingual repertories of Western and Eastern music.

The audition date is on Saturday, September 14, from 12 noon-3:30 pm at Middle School 158 (46-35 Oceania Street, Bayside, NY 11361).

The audition instruments will be: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, bass, harp and percussion. Scholarship will be available for viola, bass, horn and bassoon. The audition requirements are:

1. One solo piece of the applicant’s choice (No accompanist needed)

2. 2. Two-octave scales

3. Sight-reading

Youth Orchestra, CYCNY was founded in 1996 and registered with New York State as a non-profit organization in 1997.

The uniqueness of this youth orchestra is the various repertories of Classical, Popular, Jazz, Film, Broadway, American, Latin and Asian music.

The orchestra meets for rehearsal on each Saturday from 1-4PM at Middle School 158 in Bayside, Queens from late September to early June.

In 2013-14, the orchestra presents all members and faculty to perform in two full-length formal concerts. A Holiday Concert on December 15, 2013 at Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens, which is open to the public with free admission, the concert has been a tradition in Queens since 1999; two charity concerts to perform at Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation on December 8, 2013 and on June 1, 2014, as well as Concert at Florence E. Smith Senior Center in Corona, Queens on December 7, 2013.

The Annual Spring Concert at Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center will be on May 24, 2014.

The outstanding faculty members are graduates from the top US conservatories and universities, they are: Chijen Chris Chung/conductor & string , Chi-Ching Grace Lin/percussion, Lovell Chang/Wind & Brass, Chiwei Chang/Wind & Librarian.

Some projects of Youth Orchestra, CYCNY are made possible with the funds from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs; Taipei Cultural Center and Culture Center of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in New York.

紐約幼獅青少年管弦樂團2013-14年度新團員甄試 (新聞稿)

紐約幼獅青少年管弦樂團2013-14年度新團員甄試訂於9月14日正午12時至下午3:30時，假皇后區貝賽158初中舉行，歡迎具備演奏管弦樂器經驗的10-18歲青少年報名。

甄試內容為: 自選曲一首(無須伴奏)、兩組八度音階及視奏(Sight Reading)。報考學員必須已能演奏以下任何一種樂器: 計有長笛 (Flute)、雙簧管 (Oboe)、單簧管(Clarinet)、低音管 (Bassoon)、小號 (Trumpet)、法國號 (Horn)、長號 (Trombone)、低音號 (Tuba)、小提琴 (Violin)、中提琴 (Viola)、大提琴 (Cello)、低音提琴 (Double Bass)、豎琴 (Harp)以及打擊樂器(Percussion)等。

團員經錄取後，將於9月底至翌年6月初的每個周六下午1至4時，假皇后區貝賽158初中排練，由鍾啟仁/指揮和弦樂、林季靜/打擊樂、張若葳/管樂、張紀葳/管樂和譜務等多位資優教師教學，安排分部指導與集體練習，旨在讓團員積累世界一流音樂廳表演經驗，厚植音樂素養與實力。紐約幼獅青少年管弦樂團每年固定於紐約市舉行兩次大型音樂會，現已排定2013年12月15 日在皇后區卡多索高中舉行聖誕音樂會，以及2014年5月24日假林肯中心愛麗斯‧特莉廳( Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center)舉行另一場大型音樂會, 年度中亦受邀赴鄰近老人中心和療養院慰問義演，並不定期舉辦海外國際交流旅行演奏。

紐約幼獅青少年管弦樂團成立於1996年，自1997年向紐約州政府註冊為非營利機構。目前接受紐約市文化事務局 (New York City Department of Cultural Affairs) 獎助基金以及駐紐約台北經濟文化辦事處，紐約華僑文教服務中心，駐紐約台北文化中心，社區熱心人士，商家行號等之贊助。
