Youth Orchestra, CYCNY 2016-17 Audition for New Members

 

The Youth Orchestra, CYCNY had just successfully performed the Annual Concert 2016 at Alice Tully Hall. Lincoln Center on May 21st, and Concert at Taiwan Center on June 18th.

 

The Youth Orchestra, CYCNY, a Queens-based youth orchestra since 1996 is pleased to announce the 2016-17 Season audition for new members, age 10-18, who have been learning an orchestral instruments with a private teacher for about 2-3 years, and are interested in our multi-culture repertory of Western and Eastern music.

 

The audition date is on Saturday, September 17th, from 12 noon-4 pm at Middle School 158 (46-35 Oceania Street, Bayside, NY 11361).

The audition instruments will be: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, bass, harp and percussion. Scholarship will be available for viola, bass, horn and bassoon. The audition requirements are:

  1. One solo piece of the applicant’s choice  (No accompanist needed)
  2. Two (2) two-octave scales
  3. Sight-reading

 

 The uniqueness of this youth orchestra is the various repertories of Classical, Popular, Jazz, Film, Broadway, American, Latin and Asian music.

The orchestra meets for rehearsal on each Saturday from 1- 4 PM at Middle School 158 in Bayside, Queens from late September to early June.

 

In 2016-17 Season, the orchestra presents all members and faculty to perform in three full-length formal concerts.

 

A Holiday Concert on December 18, 2016 at  Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens, which is open to the public with free admission, the concert has been a tradition in Queens since 1998.

 

The Annual Spring Concert at Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center will be on May 20 2017.

 

The Taiwan Center Concert 2017 at Taiwan Center on 137-44 Northern Blvd., Flushing, NY in spring.

 

And Charity Concert to perform at Silvercrest Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation will be on December 11, 2016, as well as other community service concerts in New York City.

 

The outstanding faculty members are graduates from the top US conservatories and universities, they are: Chijen Christopher Chung/conductor & strings, Chi-Ching Grace Lin/percussion, Lovell Chang/Wind & Brass, Chiwei Chang/piano and Tony Huang/Strings.

Youth Orchestra, CYCNY is a 501 (c) (3) organization since 2002, we welcome your supports,  all the contributions are tax-deductible.
